LabStats.ca Service Update (2025-12-08)
Effective immediately, LabStats.ca is closed and all proficiency testing activities have been discontinued.

LabStats.ca was established as Ontario’s first accredited proficiency testing program for wastewater surveillance, and among the first of its kind worldwide. It provided laboratories with a trusted framework to benchmark performance, strengthen analytical capacity, and ensure credible results that informed public health monitoring and decision‑making. Over its operation, the program demonstrated that Ontario could lead in building world‑class infrastructure for wastewater surveillance Proficiency Testing.
Despite these achievements, Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) management has decided not to maintain accreditation for proficiency testing services, and as a result LabStats.ca will no longer be available. This decision was made at the management level; our team’s role was limited to technical implementation and program delivery.
We recognize the contributions of participating laboratories and partners, whose engagement helped establish Ontario as a leader in wastewater surveillance Proficiency Testing. Ending LabStats.ca at this stage represents the conclusion of a proven, functioning program, not the failure of its design or delivery.
